I have illustrated many children's books including the New York Times Best Seller, "The 7 Habits of Happy Kids," by Sean Covey.
Arrange a Library Visit!
The best way to arrange a school visit is to send me an e-mail at: stacycurtis@hotmail.com and give me your contact information, location and a little bit about what you're looking for. I will give you a call and we'll set up your visit!
For A Successful Presentation:
Please advertise the event in your library (flyers, word of mouth, etc.) at least two weeks prior to the presentation.
Presentation:
My library presentation is approximately 1 hour in length, this can be adjusted to your needs.
Library Presentation: "The Life of a Children's Book Illustrator"
(For all ages)
We'll discuss:
What an illustrator does.
How I became an illustrator.
We'll look at some of my artwork.
How do I create my work?
The importance of reading and why an illustrator has to read.
How does a children's book get made?
Interactive! I'll let the audience take on the role of a publisher!
Questions and Answers.
Note: I am more than happy to stick around after the presentation and talk with folks who are interested in illustrating books.
What I'll Need For A Presentation:
PowerPoint projector hooked up to a computer, a PC or Mac
Dark room (so that the images can be seen on the screen)
An overhead projector or Elmo-type device so I can draw for the kids
Microphone, preferably a lapel microphone
Note: Or we can do this the old fashioned way and all I need is an easel and a large pad of paper and a microphone if it is going to be a large group.
Book Sales:
Book sales at the event is optional. I will bring books with me, but it will be a first come, first serve basis. Anyone who doesn't get my books at the library will be directed to buy my books via Amazon.com or their local bookstore.
I will sign and do a little sketch in all books sold at the library on the day of the presentation.
Please allow extra time at the end of my presentation(s) for me to sign books. It does take time to sign and sketch in every book.
