I love getting the chance to leave my drawing table and visit with the young readers of my books! I have visited several schools, inspiring students to laugh and be entertained while learning about the role of a children's book illustrator and how to have fun as an artist.
I have illustrated many children's books including the New York Times Best Seller, "The 7 Habits of Happy Kids," by Sean Covey.
Arrange a School Visit!
The best way to arrange a school visit is to send me an e-mail at: stacycurtis@hotmail.com and give me your contact information, location and a little bit about what you're looking for. I will give you a call and we'll set up your visit!
Note: School visit requests for the 2009 - 2010 school year are starting to pile up, so please don't hestitate to make arrangements for your school visit(s) right away.
Presentation Options:
Each presentation is approximately 1 hour in length, this can be adjusted to your needs.
Note: Some visits can be set up as an author/illustrator visit. I have done many school visits with Mike Knudson, the author of the "Raymond and Graham" book series I have illustrated. If you want this option, mention it to me when you contact me to set up your visit and I'll see if Mike is available to join me for your school visit.

Some Fun Extras:

Family Presentations: Invite students and their families to an after-school presentation. Serve refreshments and make it a fun event!
Art Class Presentations: I love visiting art classes and talking with students who are excited about creating art!
What I'll Need For A Presentation:
PowerPoint projector hooked up to a computer, a PC or Mac
Dark room (so that the images can be seen on the screen)
An overhead projector or Elmo-type device so I can draw for the kids
Microphone, preferably a lapel microphone
Ordering Books:
Prior to my visit, I can send you a pre-order form for my books. Once your students return their pre-order book forms, I can order the books directly from my publisher(s) and bring the books with me to my visit. Or, if possible, I will supply a bookstore in your area with the number of pre-orders so that books can be made available the day of the presentation. Some bookstores may give back 20% of the total sales to the school - like a fundraiser, but that is not always the case.
I will sign and do a little sketch in all books ordered by your school by the day of the presentation.
Please allow extra time at the end of my presentation(s) for me to sign books. It does take time to sign and sketch in every book.
My Standard Fees:
In The Chicagoland Area:
Note: If I am visiting your school in the Chicagoland area and if you help schedule visits to other schools in your school district (within the same two weeks), I will give you and the other schools in your district, a discount on my fees.
Half-Day (2 presentations): $300
Full-Day (4 presentations, max) $500
The Rest of Illinois and Out of State:
Note: If I am traveling outside the Chicagoland area, I like to have at least three schools in your school district to give presentations to. If you would like me to
visit your school it would be helpful to both of us if you could partner with a few other schools to share the costs of my travel expenses.
Half-Day (2 presentations): $300
Full Day (4 presentations, max): $500
Plus transportation, hotel room and meals
